I am going to Spain for a month and want to see some "political" tourist attractions.? |
Travel Info Apart from the obvious thing (the Cortes Generales in Madrid) what are good "political" sights to go and see. I am thinking of travelling all over the country, Madrid, Basque Country, Catalonia, Balearics included and want to learn more about Spanish politics - from the days of the Spanish Inquisition to the days of Franco to more recent times... Travel Tips Have a look at Barcelona there is plenty of political history there see http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/barcelo... for more details Others Political sites.in Barcelona are: The Castle at Montjuich. (MUSEU MILITAR DE MONTJU脧C Ctra. de Montju茂c, 66. Castell de Montju茂c) The Town Hall and Generalitat at the end of C/ Ferran. The History Museum at the bottom of Via Leytana. (MUSEU D'HIST脪RIA DE CATALUNYA Pl. Pau Vila, 3. Palau de Mar) The cemetery at Montjuich is highly political. Why not go futher back? The Inquisition killed its last victim in about 1840. Go inland Andalucia. Take someone with you who can tell about the battles of the anti-Francos that hided here, out of just about any town. Recent history : Railway station in Madrid (bombings) and, in connection, Tangier (where most of the bombers came from) and the spanish enclaves (occupation?) of Ceuta and Melilla. |
