Nervous about a trip...?

Travel Info
I am 16 and going to Spain for a month by myself. It is at a college and I'll be with a group of 60 - 80 people.

I am nervous that the girls there will be prissy and preppy and not like me. Trips are always better when having friends, so I hope to make some. I am generally a very shy person, but I am told that I am very nice.

How can I calm my nerves before this trip? And what if I don't fit in?? AHH!

Travel Tips
I disagree about having friends on the trip making it better. To get the fullest, best experience, it's best not to have people you know. It forces you to engage with locals and to meet new Spanish people you wouldn't normally. You'll be okay. I was 12 when I traveled to Madrid (alone!) and met so many great people. If I had English speaking friends with me, it wouldn't have been as enjoyable, and I would have jipped myself out of the experience.

marijuana of course for the nerves...

if you are looking for a non holistic approach then try to breath backwards from 40 and every breath think of something good about the trip.

Even if you didn't talk to anyone. the trip more than likely isn't for socializing but for some educational purpose so don't sweat it.
trips are better with friends! but some day u have to go with out them but when im nerves i always talk to my mom or dad or even a sister or brother if u have older seblens they usely can help out with this problem but best of luck to u
You have nothing to fear, the girls are actually going to be very easy to get along with. They have a fascination with the USA and aren't nearly as uppity as some of the girls you go to school with.

This will be a great and unforgettable experience for you and I'd be surprised if you don't make a lot of friends. That you speak Spanish is a big plus, it will be much to your advantage and give you an instant "ticket"
Hi! I'm a Spaniard and I disagree with some one up there who said there's a fascination with USA. Actually there's not, especially not now. I suggest just be nice and yourself, and you'll have no problem, people here are really talkative and open. Just don't be uptight and don't go around bragging about being American, because people don't really care where you're from, just about your personality.
