Is barcelona any good? |
Travel Info im going there, for the 1st time, what places should i see Travel Tips I just returned from Barcelona last week. I started planning my trip by getting one of the travel books at the local bookstore. I found they had highlighted suggested sites very well and almost all were right on with their suggestions for day trips. Barcelona is a very good town to walk around. If you want, look to buy the Barcelona Pass at tourist centers (there will be a big "i" on posters) that lets you use the public transportation system (Bus/subway) and get's discounts to some museums/attractions. Taxi's were relatively cheap. The whole town has a great blend of cultures, museums, and environments from being along the Mediterranean. From the Marina/Waterfront (where I stayed last week) to Las Ramblas (the main boulevard leading from the Waterfront) to Placa de Catalunya (the main square in Barcelona). The old Gothic section (Barri Gottic) is adjacent to Las Ramblas/Placa de Catalunya as is the the shoping centers (El Cortes Ingles). Great Food is everywhere, but normally you can get the same dishes off on the side streets (Las Ramblas was more expensive than say tasting Tapas and Cava up along the Passeig de Gracia. One note, although Castillian Spanish is spoken everywhere, I noted the locals appreciated my effort to speak a few Catalan phrases. Catalan is a related romance language dialect native to the semi-autonomous region of Catalunya (Catalonia) which includes Barcelona. Good Luck and Have Fun! Others Title next year. Too many top players. sagrada fammilia camp nou las ramblas playa real sorry about spelling but you will like Best European Capital for muggings. Just take cash for what you need and keep your valuables hidden Have a great time Answering this question is becoming boring. YES! it's one of the best cities in the world. Visit the: Sagrada Famila Old town Barceloneta Parc Guell La Pederera Shopping up Paseo de Gracia and down Rambla Catalunya. The cathedral Sta Maria del Mar The maritime museum. The Ramblas (don't forget the market) Montjuich Tibidabo Sitges for the beaches. (I can't believe that the sea at BCN is clean). Palau de la Musica. Take in a concert. etc. I always miss out the football ground, 'Nou Camp' I went there and it was a big football pitch with a toy shop. Surprise! Surprise! A match would be something else! Been there. Most visitors stay in or near the Ramblas or in the Gothic Quarter just to the east. This is a good base from where you can explore the city's sights by day including Gaudi's masterpiece, the unfinished Sagrada Fam铆lia Cathedral, and Parc G眉ell in the north. Or maybe visit the 98,000 seater Nou Camp stadium the home of Barcelona football club. See http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/barcelo... for more details |
