Travel Info Do all German-Speaking Swiss people know how to speak French???? Travel Tips anyone who went to school here learned french, but the swiss germans don't like speaking it, usually they'll end up speaking english!No of course not no more then all Americans can speak proper English What do you call some one who can speak 2 languages?..Bilingual What do you call some one who can speak three languages?..Trilingual What do you call some one who only speaks one language?........................ American *wink* I studdied and lived in Germany for 2 yrs with my family and my teacher who was swiss could speak french, but that doesn't mean they all can, I can't speak french but can speak swiss. so the answer is no. Of course not, but they have to learn it at school. This is mandatory. The same with French speaking poeple whom MUST learn German as a secon language. But it is very basic. People living in metro areas may be bi-lingual, but people living in small towns in the Alps, don't. Born and raise in Geneva, live in L.A., I had to learn German, but I can just get by if needed. And Swytzerdutsh (German dialect spoken in Switzerland), not nice to you ears. hi angelo,not all of them can speak french Many do but not all of course. But also in the german speaking part eg in shops products are explained in french and italian. |
