What's a nice affordable road bike?

I plan on bike riding this summer to stay in shape. There's this bike trail near my place that goes all the way down to New York City (about 90 miles). I want to know a good light weight road bike. Please state brand name, place it can be purchased, and price. thank you

Check your local hometown newspaper or yard sales. I bought a Raleigh 3 speed "old fart bike" for five bucks at a yard sale. It's comfortable, I get my excercise and best of all, I don't have to wear those ridiculous spandex outfits when I ride lol
