How do you plan a cross country trip from Seattle to NY, with tourist attractions? |
Travel Info I am going from Seattle to NY and want to know if anyone has any ideas about how to plan, any offbeat attractions, etc. Money isn't really a factor, and neither is car( it is brand new), but maybe some web links to attractions or websites that help you plan them would be awesome, Thanks! Travel Tips A guide book is faster and easier to use than a website; the latter has illustrations sometimes, but it's a bear to access. You have to figure out what types of things you want to see, experience, do. I lived in New York; for twenty years. So my favorite things are taking a bus all the way from the Penn Station to the Cloisters, looking at store windows, and coming back; then there's free band concerts in Central Park; brunch on Central Park South where the horse-drawn carriages can be seen. I also go early in the day up the Empire State Building in the elevator and stay to take photographs from up there; and you can visit Macy's, the 42nd Street Library with the lions out front, see the room displays in Bloomingdale's, visit Fisher's Eddy, with its sale china and rug emporium. But the cheapest thrill in New York is shopping on side streets and taking a tour so you don't miss what you really want to see most. I ate in Chinatown, and walked hundreds of blocks when I was working there. But I never walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. Maybe you could... Get that guide book and start prioritizing your list... I had 257 places on mine I wanted to see, and saw them all in 3 days last time. So can you. Others I would first travel to LA then go on the infamous Route 66 all the way to Chicago then go to NYC from there. |
