Cancun or Venice?

Anyone have suggestions as to go to Cancun or Venice for an 8 day summer vacation?

I personally haven't been to Cancun, but I've heard it's quite a fun destination. I have been to Venice, and my suggestion is to visit there during non-summer months. The popular spots in Italy get quite crowded during the summer because the Italians travel at that time as well. Plus even though Venice is a very gorgeous city, the canals tend to get a little smelly during the summer.

If you don't mind the smell though, Venice is a must.

That said, these two are very different destinations, one is tropical, relaxing fun (Cancun), party town, while the other (Venice), is a much more cultural, gorgeous architecture, great food, and historically significicant city.

Put another way, if you're going with younger kids, definitely Cancun. If not, then try to wait til September and go to Venice.

I would go to Venice. It is so beautiful and there is a lot to see there. Cancun - I would save for a wintertime trip.
