The further north you can go, the better. So places like northern Scandinavia / Russia / Canada and Alaska are the best locations for viewing the Northern Lights.

The best time of year for viewing them is during the northern hemisphere winter, and the very best displays nearly always occur around midnight.

north western Canada or Alaska.l have seen the Northern lights when l drive out west and it was a beautiful sight to see
The further north you go during he winter - Norway, Iceland, Greenland, anywhere around the Arctic Circle really. Its possible to see them from Britain also, Scotland especially.
