What place do you feel most privileged to have visited? |
Travel Info Several years ago my husband and I (!) went to Kashmir - a beautiful, utterly different place from England (where we come from). For several years now, it has been difficult to go to Kashmir as tourists so we feel that we were very lucky to have been - although we are also sad for the lovely people there that they are living through such difficult times. We wondered where other people have travelled to that was very special for them? Travel Tips Different sort of answer. Ethiopia in 1984, Cuba, Brazil, India... These were 'absolute' places for me, or rather they taught me 'absolutes' because they were terrible and wonderful at the same time. I have been working in all sorts of small ways to improve the fortunes of these countries ever since ... I am soon (God willing) going to the Sudan, and along the coast countries of North Africa to collect as much information as possible about the lives of ordinary people, and to see in fact how 'ordinary' does not describe their lives. Others To all of the "off the beaten paths" of Turkey, away from the tourist sites. Another was Iguassu Fall where Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay come together. Finally, Burma.......... um..none really Should I feel priveleged? I couldn't say. Led quite a sheltered life me; nowhere stands out.. Austin in Texas is very special to me. if you have never been there then make it your goal to go Ypres the World war II trenches. Very thought provoking Eze, a littel medievel mountain village in the South of France. It has a beautiful view of the Mediterrenean. It was very quiet there compared to the chaos of Carnival in Nice. But, still, there is no place like home. |
