Is there a train from San Francisco to Los Angeles? And how long does it take? |
Travel Info I plan to visit Los Angeles only for a day. I want to visit only for a few hours only just to see the beautiful city and come back on the same day. Travel Tips This is a link for Amtrak .... Hope this helps Source(s): http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/contentser... Other Travel Tips The Amtrak link is great - take the Coast Starlighter not the San Joaquin for the best views. The San Joaquin (valley route) has lots of daily runs but you have to switch to a bus in Bakersfield to go over the Grapevine. The bus drops you at Union Station in Los Angeles. If you don't mind a couple of hours in an Amtrak bus (no stops) it isn't so bad though. On second thought, with more daily departures the San Joaquin is probably your best bet. Stay overnight and come back in the morning - great and afordable hotels downtown. You will actually leave from the east bay though as trains don't go into San Francisco proper - more bus connections. Have a great trip! Be sure to check out the Union Station area - Olvera Street, Chinatown, great museums. Eat at the Original Pantry - worth the line and right near the station. Been there, bought the t-shirt |
