What should I do if I find myself in a 'we don't have your reservation' situation? |
Travel Info I paid on debit card (my only card) for tickets to Miami and a room at a three star hotel through Expedia. I've called to check they have me on their schedule but it's a heavy travel time when I go. I've seen in the movies and my parents (they paid with credit) situations where the hotel is like, 'opps. We gave your room away. Our bad.' Could that happen? What would I do?! I'd be so far away from home without a room? What happens to my money? I can't afford to the pay a big difference! The dates I'm there are important to me because it's an important anniversary. Travel Tips You should have gotten a confirmation number and the name of who did the reservation. Also, carry a emergency number for whom you applied with. They can be reported, but did need all that information. It could have been printed out on your computer. If they mess up Experia will drop them. They don't want that. Cover your bases well. Others Carry a copy of your reservation confirmation and the customer service number of Expedia. They'll help you out with reservation problems. Carry details of your reservation. If you have indeed prepaid, then you have a legal contract with the hotel - you can stick solidly to your guns if they have no room for . However, usually you have only put up a guarantee against late arrival. But it is still bad form to let you down. It has happened to me twice. The first time the hotel was superb - it got me into another (better) hotel at the same rate and had me in a taxi to it - which they paid for - within 5 minutes. The second was less helpful. I had to bully them to help at all. They did find me another hotel (which was about the same price and which I preferred), but I had to get there myself. But rest assured, thats twice out of several hundred bookings. |
