Depends for what type of vacation.

For the get away from everything, I had two places. One in europe was Sardinia. Very laid back, it was stepping back in time 30-40 years. Small hotels, travel by bicycle or scooter or bus, few people at the beaches, no bad pricing for everything. In North America, Prince Edward County in Ontario. Small towns, good fishing, small lakes for boating, reasonable costs for cottages etc, more of a country atmosphere. Very relaxing.
