What should I bring to sleep on in this village in the jungle in Guyana? |
Travel Info I'm going to Guyana, South America in 12 days, and for the first 2 nights my missions team will be sleeping under the stars in a village in the jungle. My youth pastor told us to bring a pool floatie (like the ones you can lay on, that have the little pillow) to sleep on, but I have a bad back and I'm afraid that I'll wake up in pain if I have to sleep on a pool floatie. The problem is, whatever I bring to sleep on has to fit in my 21x15x8.5 carry-on, because that's all I get to take into the jungle. I was thinking maybe a hammock, but are those really expensive? And how much room would it take up in my bag? I just don't want to be in pain the entire week! Travel Tips How about a Therm-a-Rest mat? They never gave me back pain! I would take a mosquito net too and wear a a long-sleeved tight fitting silk pajama! Others hammocks aren't really that expensive i bought mine at Walmart in the camping section it folds up really small and its comfy. we do alot of camping and hiking it was 10 bucks. it folds up to about 4 inches thick and 10 inches long probably weighs less that a pound , have a wonderful and safe trip Why dont u get one of those beds that u blow up. They come in a little box with a pump, it no bigger than 14 x 16 in the box. I think its call the air bed. Its sold at walmart and sears and some department stores and its only $20 dollars. Its easy to inflate and easy to deflate & its really comfortable. My mom and aunt have bad backs and they use it all the time when they travel, WITH NO COMPLAINTS. Oh! I think a hammock would be harder to set up than the airbed, but if u buy one, it shouldnt cost you much in GUYANA, but over here, it would be a little costly. A hammock in Guyana is about $8000, which is about US$40. Enjoy the trip. |
