Waiting over 12 weeks for my passport, if I go in person, will they give it to me same day? Or a Gov't ID? |
Travel Info Leaving in 2 weeks on vacation. No passport!! 12 weeks waiting. Have an appt. 3 days before flight, will they give me something in writting (Gov't ID card) so I won't miss my flight? Travel Tips Well you can leave the country w/o a passport...it's getting back in thats the tricky part. Check some government websites, somewhere you can check the 'progress' of your passport, and they have 1-800 numbers you can call. If it's coming soon, you can always leave the country and have somebody ship it too you while your gone...but that can be risky. 12 weeks is a little longer than average...but i hear the passport division has been backed up lately with the new mexico and canada regulations. Others you can go to travel.state.gov there's a page on there that will allow people who have applied to get a paper stating that they're waiting for the passport you will either need to go to a passport center, your dmv can tell you where or you might get it sooner if you expedite your passport (costs more) depending where you are going, you might can travel with your proof of application that you can print from this link: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/sta... if you still need to go to a center and if all goes well, you should have your passport. good luck |
