What's the best place in or near Virginia to spend an Anniversary weekend at? Must be very affordable, too!! |
Travel Info My friend is seeking advice on where to spend her 5th year anniversary with her husband. She didnt' want to travel to the beach (too long - roughly 6 hours away), but still wanted somewhere nice for she and her husband to stay. She will be leaving out of Fincastle, VA next Friday. Any suggestions?? Maybe a nice, affordable B&B? Since this is kind of an impromtu trip, it needs to be somewhere affordable. She preferrably doesn't want to vacation in a big city like D.C. or Richmond, even though they're within her time contstraints. She also mentioned she didn't care for Baltimore, either. Also, they travel to Gatlinburg, Tenn. every summer, so not there either!! Thanks guys! Sorry for all of the stipulations!! Lol! :) I'd appreciate any advice! Travel Tips First of all, totally weird - my name is Allyson F also. But on to your question. My best friend and her husband went to the Foxfield Inn (http://www.foxfield-inn.com/) in Charlottesville and said it was wonderful. They did this package (cut and pasted from the website): THE ROMANTIC GETAWAY Two nights in your choice of (subject to availability) Rose, Hunt Country, Audubon, or Garden Room featuring remote controlled fireplace (in season), in-room Jacuzzi for two, handmade four post canopy queen bed, Bose Wave庐 radio/CD player. Full country breakfast each morning. Portrait, 8X10, casually posed around Inn, usually ready at your departure. A selection of fine Virginia wine from a local winery. Dinner for two at Silver Thatch Restaurant in Charlottesville. The Silver Thatch offers a special dining experience in its intimate candlelit dining rooms. Contemporary cuisine is offered, featuring grilled meat and fish with healthy and eclectic sauces. Whenever possible, they work with local farmers to ensure that the finest, freshest produce will reach their dining guests. All breads, muffins, cookies, and fabulous desserts are made in house. Dinner includes your choice of: Appetizer Entree Dessert and non-alcoholic beverages (except specialties such as cappuccino) All applicable taxes and gratuities Note: Dinner not available Sunday, Monday. Escort to/from dinner at the Silver Thatch in the Inn's Mercedes Benz (subject to availability). Two Foxfield Inn coffee mugs. Bouquet of fresh flower in your room upon arrival. A $730 value for...$605 to $645 depending on season |
