Good historical sites in Turkey?

i'm of to Turkey a week tomorrow and was wondering if anyone whos been there knows of any old roman ruins or buildings that are there, i'm going to marmaruis if thats how you spell it! :)

Ephesus. Visit the Roman ruins, great trip out, do the whole day and not just the half day. In the full day you can visit the top of the mountain to the shrine of the Virgin Mary.
Pamukkale. I think they are calcium pools and baths, another great day out. They look like the tops of the mountains are covered in snow, but it is all the calcium deposits.
Done them both a few years ago and had a fab time.
Don't book them through the tour reps. We booked them through a local travel agent in Kushadasi, and got them at half the price, and got taken to some places the tour reps don't go. Like at Pamukkale we were taken to a different set of springs which were red rather than white.
