What are Los Angeles' and San Diego's best kept secrets?

Travel Tips
For San Diego, it REALLY depends on what you like to do. There are so many things to do that I can't list them all here. Here are a few highlights though:

Hillcrest. This is San Diego's gay community and there are a lot of excellent restaurants in this area. Among them are:

Bronx Pizza

Hands down the best pizza place in San Diego.

Phil's Barbecue (right around the corner):

Hands down the best barbecue in San Diego (currently the Hillcrest location is closed, but there is a new one in Point Loma)

Bombay: Excellent Indian Food.

Extraordinary Deserts: Really good desert place. Between downtown and Hillcrest.

There is also Hodad's, in Ocean Beach. Great burgers...

Also, for SoCal in general, you have to check out In & Out. They appear throughout the LA and San Diego areas. Also excellent burgers

Also, the Mexican taco shop's in San Diego are plentiful and almost all the best you will ever taste. Some famous ones:

Sombrero Mexican Food has a number of locations throughout San Diego. Try the Carne Asada Fries...

Also, Santanas:

And many more...you have to explore. There is one by San Diego State called Albertacos.

Enough about food...

Apart from Balboa Park, La Jolla, the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, and the Gaslamp Quarter, there are a number of places to have fun in San Diego. There are a number of Indian Casino's within half hour to an hour of any point in the city. Viejas, Barona, and Pechanga are three good ones. They all offer poker, table games, and slots. There is also Tijuana, worth a day trip. If you want a true beach community type thing, try either Pacific Beach or Ocean Beach. There is great golfing everywhere in the city. Can't think of anywhere else...

Have fun on your trip!
