Need passport help... father on birth certificate but I don't know his DOB.? |
Travel Info I am applying for a passport and know my father's name (it's on my birth certificate) but not his birthdate. I filled out the online form to print and it won't let me enter only his name so I had to check the father 'unknown' box. Since his name is on my birth certificate but listed as unknown on my application will my application be accepted? Travel Tips I see no one has an answer for you. The only thing Ican think of is for you to cal l1-877-487-2778 and see if you can get thru to a human being and ask. The other thing would be to go ahead and click the 'unknown', then write a letter to clip to the application explaning why his name is on the birth certificate but you had to click "unknown." You can't be the only person who has had this problem. Good luck. Others They will probably accept your application at first, and then get confused. I would suggest re-typing your application and just putting in a fake birthdate, because in all honesty, the passport office won't verify the father's birthdate. If you're like me and would want to know your father's birthdate anyway, I would suggest contacting the Vital Statistics/Vital Records office in the state where you were born, and asking them how to obtain a "Long Form" or "Certified Photocopy" of your original birth certificate, which will include your father's date and place of birth. |
