How do you get a job in Antarctica?

I am interested in getting a job in Antarctica maybe over the winter, but I don't know how to go about it. Does anyone have any experience with it?

lol! Yeah, there really are jobs in the Antarctic!! Lots of them, and lots of people who want them. Housing (such as it is :) ) is provided by the employers.

We've had several friends who've worked in Antarctica for Raytheon.

Try these links for detailed information. The best bet is probably calling Raytheon directly at the number on the first link. If they don't need anyone right now, ask if you can be pre-screened to be ready to go if an opening comes available.

Our winter is their summer; I think that is what you were referring to? When you are hired on, it's for the full season.

Many less people are employed on the Ice during their winter. You'd need to go through stricter screenings. There's a limit to how much time they'll allow you to spend on the Ice without having a break from it.

It may not pay as much as you'd think, but it is quite an experience. You'll be going through New Zealand on the way down and back. Try to spend as much time there as possible, at least on your way back.

One of the harder parts for many is always being around other people. It's not like you can just get away from it whenever you want. ;)
