VISA Pictures - dead face or smile?

I am applying for a Spanish Student VISA and I need four passport-sized pictures. My question is not about the size but rather: do VISA pictures follow the same rule as passport pictures, meaning you must look like some prisoner (no smile, dead serious) or can you allow yourself cracking a little smile?

lets say abit of both... will do u good...

dont go for the dead look... cause the visa officer at airport arrival will think ur werido.... :)

& dont smile like as if its ur birthday & ur abt to get a lollypop

... mix them together which =
a "Formal Smile or Pround Smile"
