Is the French Riviera/Cote D'Azur good for sandy beaches? |
Travel Info Hi, I'm hoping to go away with my boyfriend in September this year. It's our first holiday in three years so we really want to go somewhere beautiful and relaxing with sandy beaches but we'd like to stay in Europe. We were thinking about the French Riviera/ Cote D'Azur but I've heard that there is no sand on the beach in Nice and St Tropez is too expensive. We'd rather not go to the Spanish Costas or anywhere that is too crowded and tacky. If anyone can recommend the French Riviera or has any other suggestions for destinations, I'd love to hear them! Travel Tips Why not try Les Prairies de la Mer, at Port Grimaud. Not only is Port Grimaud beautiful but the site, accommodation and beach is great. It's just across the bay from St.Tropez and a bus, that stops right outside the site, will take you there. It's worth the trip, just to say you've been there and seen "how the other half live" with their flash boats etc. The site itself has shops, restaurants, entertainment and further restaurants can be found in Port Grimaud, a short walk away. Eating out doesn't come cheap, but don't let that put you off. I would be inclined to recommend that you do a little self catering, if not all. You can get there on a 10 day, 7 night, holiday by coach on the 15th Sept., staying in an executive 4 berth lodge, for a total of 拢463. I've done it and it's a good way of seeing France on the way down. If you prefer, you can go by air, with flight and accommodation for 7 days, at a total cost of 拢435 on the 16th Sept., from Gatwick. The only extra, doing it this way, is the cost of transfers from Nice to Prairies de la Mer. Both of these alternatives can be found by going to the website of Siesta International Holidays (www.siestaholidays.co.uk). Whatever you choose, have a great holiday as 3 years is a long time without one. Others St tropaz had sand on it when i went plenty of it too.Keep away from the beach side bars they are expensive buy from supermarkets.Much cheaper. You could try Rhodes or Corfu, Greece. Antibes or Cannes, S. France. Marmaris or Kusadasi, Turkey. All have sandy beaches & great places. I've been to them all.
