How can i get a job like samantha brown's? |
Travel Info seriously, you know, Samantha Brown from the travel channel. or like the people on Globe Trekker? I live in california, Im 17, I just graduated high school last wednesday. help, please? Travel Tips Well first off, congratulations on your Graduation from High School. That is a major accomplishment and now it is onto the next chapter of your life. Your goal to be on Television as a Travel Expert is admirable and while it may seem far fetched, it is possible if you first believe in yourself. Set that goal firmly in your mind and do not let anyone or anything get in the way of that goal. I have been on TV and radio as a Travel Expert for many years. Of course, being in the travel business for 30 years and being an expert on many countries and places in the world did not hurt. I have been on over 100 cruises and I can talk on and on about travel, any part of this world, any place in this world. That is what being Expert is about. I have done a lot of shows for various networks and can tell you a lot of it is knowing how to sell yourself and having something to say that people will listen to. I also write segments for shows that I do not have to appear on, just being a Contributing Editor. You can get into a Broadcasting course, acting is important because it is truly how you come across on camera as much as what you are talking about. I would strongly suggest a course in Television acting first. You could also get a job traveling. You could apply to an airline for instance. Some way other than being Paris Hilton that you could travel the world and gain information, and confidence in what you are talking about. Read everything you can about Travel. Read the magazines, read the Travel Guide Books. Watch the Travel channel and read the Sunday Travel section of your newspaper. The Internet is another wonderful source for gaining information. Then maybe apply for a job working for a local cable television network that has public access. You could literally put together your own Travel Show! Then apply for a job at at network doing anything they need. A PA (Production Assistant) would be a great place to start. You are looking to get a foot in the door and get involved in the production of a TV show. That can lead to a lot of other opportunities. Remember, above all, that is not as much as what you know as who you know. Network, network, network. Notice that work is the second part of that word. Good luck and maybe someday soon I can sit back and watch you on the Travel Channel. Source(s): 34 years in the Travel Business, Travel Expert for Columbia Television. Other Travel Tips First of all, you鈥檇 have to get in line behind ME. When she first started her travel show, she was a little obnoxious and I didn鈥檛 care for her. She was a little too excitable and animated in her actions and speech, coming off as rehearsed and insincere. A short year later, I can鈥檛 believe the changes she has made. She is far more entertaining and her actions and dialog is much more enjoyable. She does have the perfect job. There is another travel program that features a young man and a young woman doing pretty much what Samantha does except that he is boring and she is an obnoxious phony. How to get a job like hers, I guess you have to know someone, have a pleasant looking face, talk honestly and professionally and love to travel. Her web site has some links to her and maybe you could ask her yourself. Remember, if you get some interest, don鈥檛 forget that I鈥檓 in front of you in line! http://travel.discovery.com/tv/samantha-... |
