I'm bored with my life and need a fresh start/adventure. Does anyone have any ideas?

Travel Info
So here is the deal: I鈥檓 25, fit, healthy, intelligent, single and without kids. I've done alright for myself so far, with a job and all that, but life has gone downhill a bit since uni as the plight of working life settled on me. In 3 years I have managed to accumulate some savings (拢10k) and whilst in some respects I have it all, I am thoroughly bored with life. At first, working for the ambulance service was a rush but its all got so tiring, frustrating and samey. I feel like I need to DO something before I get too old or tied down with commitments and responsibilities... but apart from recognising I have itchy feet and that its time to do flex my wings, I don鈥檛 know what to do.

I'm considering everything from joining the army to emigrating and starting fresh somewhere. I'd like to have something to show for it at the end and grow a bit too as a person - but more importantly I want to escape the boredom and banality of life in the UK.

Anyone got any ideas or advice?

Travel Tips
You have itchy feet and the you posted in travel section.

Do you like travelling? I like to travel. But, unlike you, I am married, and soon to be father.

to the point now, you need to get out of town. Yeah, I know everybody has suggested that. Here is the catch.

Check this out.

Yes, it is national geographic. You can go out on a vacation with the nat-geo professionals. (thats the exact link to the vacations with natgeo pros). They have lots of places to travel to and with the amount of money you have at the moment (10K pounds), you can afford it by a long shot.

Maybe something in you can change and you can find a new perspective to life.

Frankly, I don't believe anybody telling you what to do will make any difference to you until you actually find something that makes you click.

you sound as dull as a grey tank top, you havnt done'alright' for yourself because youve finaly realised how boring you are
get drunk, waste the 10k on a fast car and big tv ffs, shag some fat birds....be normal, its a lot more fun than boring people make out
Apply for a short service commission in the Army and if successful, after your three years are completed get a well paid job in the armed services of one of the conservative Arab countries.
Welcome to life. It sucks and it's boring. Get used to it.
Take up some exteme sports - skydiving, hang gliding, parasailing, ... Take a year or two to teach English in a foreign country or use part of your savings to travel for an extended period.
Have you thought about volunteering for something? As you have no kids or dependents, now would be an ideal time. There is a website that gives you a list of volunteering jobs, both here and overseas:

Another idea, if you are interested, is what my Brother does. He too is a Paramedic, but he also works with an organisation called Humanity First, as a member of the Medical Disaster Response Team. He spent three weeks in Pakistan after the Earthquake, as one of an 8 person medical team. As you have Ambulance experience, I'm sure something like that would be right up your street.

Good luck to you, in whatever you decide, I would do something worthwhile for humanity, but I have to raise my kids first!
The fact that you put your question in the travel section says it all: you are seriously thinking about going to a foreign country. Speaking from experience, I can tell that when you go abroad the first 5 years will be very exciting but it will start getting boring again, as you are more settled there. I would recommend it though, if worse comes to worst you can always come back home. You could teach English as a foreign language and you'll be very popular so no problems on the making friends front. Good luck, enjoy yourself!
