What is it called when you slip into another accent that is not your native one? |
Travel Info I slip into a British or Canadian accent when I get drunk or when I talk to people from those areas. Why is this and is there a name for this? Travel Tips I don't know if there is a clinical name for it, but I always referred to it as imitating. And as the very old saying goes, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." So when you are talking like those particular folks, most likely it is simply because you have an affection for the accent and the people. Others maybe just cuz ur drunk...but i would say its called...slipping into another accent? Because you are drunk and it's called slurring. It's called acting. A Poser...!!!!!!!!!!!!! The correct word is MIMICRY... I have the same habit! (but I don't drink ;-D ... it just comes out that way!) TALKING IN TONGUES LoL |
