Can anybody tell me the website of coppice hospital in the united kingdom? |
Travel Info i wanted some basic information about the hospital like where it is located in the uk, how reputed it is and so on. I searched for its website but was unsuccessful. If anybody can give me the information or atleast the correct website, it will be helpful. Travel Tips This is all the info I could get. It is closed down now. Coppice Hospital, Nottingham Coppice Hospital This hospital is not listed in the 1844 Report, which suggests that the Hospital Database statement that it was founded in 1789 refers to The General Lunatic Asylum for the Town and County of Nottingham, which took pauper and private patients until the 1850s. The Hine Hall Conservation Area is situated in the Mapperley area of the City, about 2 miles north east of the city centre and was designated as a Conservation Area in March 1993. The designated Conservation Area occupies some 4.5 ha of land on a ridge above St Ann鈥檚. The boundary of the Conservation Area has been drawn to include the remaining extent of the original site of the Coppice Hospital, including the landscaped gardens immediately to the south of the building and the wider parkland that surrounds it on all sides, which was an integral part of the original hospital site and now contains a large number of mature trees. In addition, the Area also contains the original lodge at the former Ransom Road entrance. For hundreds of years, the town coppice was the source of timber used by theNottingham Corporation for the construction and repair of buildings and bridges. In the 17th century, the corporation attempted to sink pits beneath the well-established oaks in the search for coal , trying at least twice but without success. Another major road in the area was Coppice Road (later renamed Ransom Road), a thoroughfare constructed in 1837, as part of a road building and repaving scheme to put labourers with families back to work. Connecting Coppice Lodge to Mapperley Plain, the road passed through the coppice, with toll gates at each end, and a toll house at the bottom for horses and carts. This later became St Annes Well Road Police Station. |
