Things to do in Rustington?

I'm going to be there for about two weeks in June/July (though it's not sightseeing, I'm not going to have time to travel a long way to any place) and I wanted to know if there was any suggestions as to where I could easily go without having to drive or walk more than a few miles, ie restaurants, shops, etc.

Also, what is the deal with the drinking age? What can a 16 year old drink and not drink?

The alcohol laws in England are a little complicated.

16 and 17 year olds can drink beer, wine or cider with a meal if it is bought for them by someone over 18, but it must be in an area specifically set aside for meals and not in the bar area.

There is no law with drinking in private, but most places have laws on drinking in public - it is banned in most town centres (apart from pubs etc).

You have to be over 18 to purchase alcohol, and it is against the law for an over 18 year old to purchase alcohol for an under 18 year old to drink in public or in a pub.

This means that if you are 16, you can get an adult to buy you drink from the shop, but only if you are drinking on private property, and not on the street or at the pub.
