Self service laundry facilities in UK? |
Travel Info I will be in the UK in September and I am venturing on a 3 week coach trip to England,Ireland, Scotland and Wales from what I can see very few/none of my hotels have laundry facilities can anyone advise what coins I would need for laundromats and approx charge and also if washing powder is available or better to take my own??? Travel Tips We call them laundrettes. Ask for a laundromat and you'll get funny looks. When you get here, ring 118 118 (directory enquiries) and ask them where your nearest laundrette is. If they don't sell washing powder, then pop over to a corner shop or supermarket and buy some - don't bother bringing it over from the US. Others They are "laundrettes" in the UK, but can be hard to find. Try around university. Ask at hotel for yellow pages for listens. They do powder all in cost less than $10.which is less than a call to 118118 You can find laundrettes in most cities. I don't see them as often as I do in some other countries, but you can find them. They are usually a bit expensive. The price varies from place to place though, so I can't really say what coins you will need but most of the time I have noticed that they have machine to make change. There is usually a machine that you can washing power from, if not, there will be someone working there that will sell you washing power and give you change for the machines. You can look here before you go http://www.yell.com/ just put in "laundrette" and the post code and you should find one nearby. Alternatively, just ask at the front desk at your hotel. I am sure they have guests than needed one in the past. |
