Travel Info ok- waht does oi mean??? i heard it on tv and on youtube (parkez17 :) ) a british guy said it.......................? Travel Tips when u r trying to get someones attention you shout oiiii Others Well this is actually a word I use... but I use itt when something exciting just happened, or when I am saying hey to my friends, just say oi... if i am not mistaken, that's some kinda biritish exclamation. can be used in a variety of situations such as "oi, watch out for that hole!" or "oi, she's damn hot!". i am not british myself, but, oi, using "oi" is so much fun! Instead of saying Excuse me, or trying to get someones attention, its just slang and us commoners use it alot Just to grab someone's attention or as a warning, perhaps to a child who is about to do something they're not supposed to. It is slang so wouldn't be used in any formal setting and depending on the severity of the tone can be insulting/provocative. "Oi! Don't touch that!" "Oi! You!" Use it all the time |
