Where's the best place to exchange US currency in UK...bank or postoffice?

Travel Info
Personal experiences if possible! I've had 3 different recommendations on travel sites, but would like to hear how other people have done.

Travel Tips
Banks would give you a better exchange rate, buy traveller's cheques.
Others
postoffice definetly they charge no, or very little, money for currency exchanges
I always wuld use the bank the post office will charge, any place has the sme exchange rate it does not diffrer from place to place.
The best place is the bank. Whatever you do don't exchange it in a hotel. You're likely to get stiffed and not make out too well.
best option: put the $ in your bank account in US, use your ATM card. You won't have to stand in line and pay the usurious commission which bank charges....

didn't know post office would exchange $, but still suggest my method above.
Marks & Spencer's Bureau De Change!
