Watch out if near English Lake District? |
Travel Info Take cover, huge hailstones, thunder, torrents of rain, may be coming your way soon....get inside now. Travel Tips I'll get my washing in, thanks! Others just had a torrential downpour here in Yorkshire. had to run out and close my car windows. threw it down in windermere last week so much we came home. So, no change there, then! Yeah lucky I have my Internet connection. You should work for the meteorological office Well it's not happening yet but thanks for the warning! It's quite normal weather up here though and the Lake District is quite large so are we talking North or South? The weather can change 4 miles up the road anyway and I can't see any thunder clouds from here, perhaps it will miss us! No choice anyway, I've got to go to work! I'm way down South in London, but looks like we will be getting some heavy rain and thunder by looking at the Sky's. Lots of large grey storm clouds!! Beautiful part of the North of England in which I have travelled on foot, in boat and by car many times. Relating to your "question" many years ago (45-50) I cycled all around the British Isles with a friend from school (Sam) covering about 100 miles per day, staying at Youth Hostels at 3/6d per night(17.5p). However after 10 days on the east coast, during summer holidays, we crossed the Pennines and head for Keswick. We stayed at a nearby hostel and, next morning, set off for home (in Cheshire) to be met by a gale-force wind and very heavy rain. As experienced cyclists we "ploughed on" for some miles but, in the end, were literally blown backwards by the storm. We took the first train home! |
