Smoking ban?

i plan to visit the u.k over christmas and new year,after an absence of 40 years.i hear the british govt. has introduced a draconian law banning smoking in pubs.what do the smoking tax payers plan to do about it,are there anyways to enjoy a beer and cigarrette at the same time other than staying home,or have they banned that too.non smokers do not bother to reply.

Most pubs have little enclosures on the side where you can still smoke but it's still a load of crap because you have to get up and leave friends. Last time I went home, the pubs had conservatories with heating and tv's built onto te side. Another example of England going down the pan!
none smokers cannot reply....in other words you only want to hear from people who agree with you. This being so, why bother asking the question?

yes there's no smoking in pubs from Jul 1.
also no smoking in your own home if you want a visit from social workers etc.
i might start going out again.
We have to go outside when we want a ciggy. You're only way is to stay home. There is no place that's exempt from the ban! You're not even allowed to smoke in a bus shelter!
You can not smoke in ANY enclosed public space, if you do, you will be fined 拢50.
It you want a ciggy whilst at the boozer you will have to go outside, some pubs are building shelters to keeps us smokers dry if it rains when we have a quick drag.
There's nothing you can do about it.
I'm not in the UK but I would think if they wanted to sell cigarettes or cigars (here the government gets tax money from cigarettes...I suppose from cigars too) they would set up private clubs to smoke in like the USA does.
