Travel Info What do you think of continental drivers without passing UK tests. Driving on UK roads? Travel Tips I am far more concerned about the foreign drivers on our roads who have'nt passed their tests full stop and are thereby driving with no insurance. And according to government statistics there are thousands and thousands of them. They take old/bad habits from home ie driving without a licence because that was ok in the village they lived in and everyone did it - and then start driving here. The London Borough that I live in, which I shall not name, has one of the highest rates of illegal foreign road users - they've got this information from the amount of uninsured drivers the police have stopped/pulled over. That is very worrying Others I don't see it as any difference to me not passing a French or German test and yet still being able to drive on French and German roads. You are allowed to do it by law - so whats the problem well when we go abroad we drive on their roads and dont have to take a test, but i suppose it would be safer if they were permanent residents here. xxx Welcome to the 21st century and the EU! We drive on UK licenses in their countries. That's the way it goes. Exactly the same as I think of British drivers without licences. It is illegal and they should be removed from the road. The driving test in most other countries is at least as rigorous as ours. Some of the lorry drivers frighten the life out of me when I'm on the motorway and they pull out in front of me whilst I'm in the outside lane! |
