I had a friend who made this mistake when he first got here...

In case you were wondering, the p stands for pence. The sign for pounds is 拢, as in 拢15.

15p stands for 15 pence (and if it is written as 15p it is pronounced "fifteen pee" not "fifteen pence").

In the Uk the currency is pounds and pence - just like dollars and cents in the US. The p stands for pence. A quick way to convert is to allow two dollars for one pound.

12p = 24c
15p = 30c
IT MEANS PENCE AND THERE ARE 100 PENCE IN A POUND..... 15 P IS ABOUT 28 CENT
