What kind of Visa do i need if I want to go the US for the summer?

Travel Info
I already have a job, but its with a parents friend, who might pay us pocketmoney instead of us being on payroll. I'm an Irish citizen who is a full time student. Do i HAVE to get a J1? They're very expensive!

Travel Tips
As long as you have a machine-readable passport, you will not need a visa for any visit that is under 90 days. However if you plan on working, you probably will need to get a visa. You can read more about them here: http://dublin.usembassy.gov/ireland/gene... :-)

Others
You don't need a J1 unless you are coming to the States to be an exchange visitor (i.e. a postdoc, postgrad, etc).

You need a tourist visa if all you're doing is "visiting." (I believe this is a B visa)

If you're really planning to work, then you will need an H1B to make it legal.
