Which city in Indiana is the best one to move to? |
Travel Info I am getting out of the military and me and my wife are looking for a place in Indiana to settle down since we are from there! Any suggestions? Travel Tips I would choose Fort Wayne I moved here 20 some years ago and have not regretted it . I live outside the city limit but can easily commute to anywhere in town or across town with out the bumper to bumper traffic. The Economy is good Crime low and if you want to go out there is anything you can think of to do like eating and shopping.Winters as far as snow goes have been very mild unlike the snowbelt area around Lake Michigan Others Gary, "The Palm Springs of the Midwest" I grew up in South Bend. In terms of employment opportunity, I'd go with Indianapolis. Small town values, Evansville. College life, Bloomington. Economy, Indy again. Chesterton hasn't changed much in the last 50 years, and is close to Chicago, and Lake Michigan. South Bend has a growing economy, and gets you within 100 miles of Chicago, is close to Lake Michigan, and right on the border of Michigan. Also the home of Notre Dame. Anywhere but Gary, and Elkhart. The two compete for the unsolved murder capital of the US. Bloomington. It has a giant university, so there are lots of cultural events and good schools. It's more liberal than a lot of the rest of Indiana and not as scary as the rust belt portion (i.e., Gary--unless you like smokestacks, that is not the place to go). We live in Chicago and were just in Bloomington last weekend visiting friends. We'd live there. I live in Indianapolis, its a great place to live...I suggest you guys move to Indianapolis, Indiana I would suggest Lafayette / West Lafayette, or any of the surrounding small towns, like Battle Ground, Dayton, or even Shadeland. We are close enough to Indy, as well as the State Parks; or we can go north and take a one-tank field trip. With the university and Ivy Tech, jobs are plentiful. Schools are great also. |
