Vacationing from Dyersburg TN to Seatle WA. June 10th? |
Travel Info We have decided to drive and see everything and take our time for 3 1/2 weeks. We would like to see it all from Montana to the Dakota's etc. and then coming back another direction! We would love to pan for gold, see Mt. Rushmore, Badlands, etc. Would like to know if anyone has taken such a trip and maybe has some really good ideas on what routes we would see the most for the time that we have. We are traveling with a 18 year old and a 20 year old and we are in our 50's so we are really wanting to make this trip memorable for it will be the last time the 18 and 20 year old go with us. They both want to go to California to Rodeo Drive but I am afraid we won't beable to afford that especailly the amount we are spending on GAS!!! Please send your best ideas, very much appreciated. Thanks Travel Tips Here comes a book!! lol Go across 412 to I-55 north right into downtown St Louis. Take I-70 west to Kansas City. Take I-29 north to Sioux Falls, SD. Get on I-90 west, you will see ALOT of billboards for Wall Drug, you have to stop there. There is not much out there, trees are even sparce. You will see the signs for the Badlands scenic route. Once you you get back on I-90 west you won't br far from Rapid City/Sturgis area. Again you will see the signs for the Black hills & Mt Rushmore. When you leave there go west to Spearfish & go north to Belle Fourche. Take U.S. 212 west into Montana it is about 40 miles shorter & comes back out on I-90 right at the Little Big Horn battlefield. The part of I-90 you will be cutting off will not cause you to miss ANYTHING. I-90 from Billings to Spokane, Wa will be a breathe-taking drive. I-90 will take all the way to Seattle. OHH Look for Mt Rainer!! If it's a clear day you can see it from over 100 miles miles away. When you leave Seattle go south on I-5 to Portland. If you want to come back from there bring I-84 back to Salt Lake City. Even if you want to go on down to California, you have to ride out I-84 east a little way to at least see the Columbia River gorge. It's amazing!! If you go down to Ca. on I-5 you will see alot of mountains. Mt Rainer & St Helens in Wa. Hood in Or. Shasta in Ca to name the biggest! Trust me, if you have been seen the Great Smokeys you will be awe struck at these! Once you get to Sacremento you could come back I-80 across Donner Pass, Through Reno to Salt Lake City. Go south on I-15 TO U.S. 6 & cut over to I-70 east the the Rocky mountains to Denver. From there you could go east to Limon, Co. & take U.S. 287 south to Amarillo, Tx. Get on I-40 east through Oklahoma City, Little Rock, etc back to Memphis. My wife is about to kill me if I don't get off here so I have had to hurry & give you just a little overview. Email for more Ideas & let me know your interests. I drive a truck so I know all kinds of places to see!! Source(s): pro truck driver Other Travel Tips |
