Where is the hip, liberal, artsy, area in Florida? |
Travel Info I was wondering what town/city is good for hipster, liberal, younger people to live in. Think coffee shops, great bars, artsy. Travel Tips Miami has the reputation as hippest and most liberal, but it's not accurate. It's voting record is Republican, and outside of South Beach, pretty conservative. If you're deadset on living in South Florida, West Palm Beach has become more of what you're looking for, with a Democratic representation and voting record to prove it. There is an artsy edge, and a younger population. Florida Atlantic University is in Boca Raton, which is nearby. There are over 25,000 students attending. Overall in the state, I would say St. Petersburg. It has an amazing arts scene, it's a beautiful place with a downtown full of cafes, galleries and museums, a great liberal college (Eckerd College), and you can actually afford to live there (unlike South Florida). Source(s): search the term "St. Petersburg hipster" There is a great article from Washington Post.com about St.Pete, The link was too long www.eckerd.edu Other Travel Tips miami is the best but tampa would be the second choice. |
