Need help in Pittsburgh...? |
Travel Info I'm a single woman moving to Pittsburgh soon. I need some advice about where to live. I'm concerned about safety, and price. Where should I look. I don't need to be downtown, but need to be within 20 miles of the city...help please. Travel Tips I'm from the South Hills, and it's pretty nice and cheap there, depending on the area. Castle Shannon is just outside of the city, but there's a trolley line that only takes about twenty minutes to get downtown. You can get a decently priced apartment, duplex, or house there and it has the advantage of richer suburbs right next door. The South Side is nice, too. Lots of different kinds of people, great food, and pretty buildings. That's just over the river from Downtown. Pittsburgh as a whole is fairly safe as long as you avoid certain neighborhoods, like East Liberty. We've also got a really cheap housing market compared to other major cities. I hope you enjoy it! Others Suggestions: look up Realtor offices in the City and ask about area's. Find people on My Space in that area and ask them what they suggest. Good Luck! hello, i lived i pittsburgh for one year as an exchange student. I was living in a borough called plum near oakmoant. It is a very beautiful place, calm , safe and nice. The school is very nice and many helpful people.I surely advice you to look for a house to move there. It takes you about 25 minutes driving to get downtown. There is a place called penn hill either not far from downtown but very ugly and dangerous so maybe i wouldnt look for something there if i was you.Good luck! May I suggest South Park Township. Beautiful area. Quiet and peaceful. Right near your distance range. |
