Travel Info Do I need a passport to drive to Canada? We are going to Minnesota and thought it would be a fun day trip? Travel Tips No, you don't need a passport to drive to Canada at this time...might happen some time in the future though. As another poster said...make sure you bring ID...ideally your birth certificate and driver's license. They want photo ID, and sometimes proof of where you were born. If married, bring marriage license to show change of name from your birth cert to driver license name. Where are you going in Minnesota? I live in west central Minnesota. There's a lot of great things to see and do here. Others No. At the moment you don't need a passport to drive across the border. But everyone should bring some id. Yes you do. If you don't have one now than good luck getting one because they are so far behind on their schedule for issuing passports. Citizens of the United States do not need a passport or visa to enter Canada, unless they are arriving in Canada from somewhere other than the USA. They do need to have on them proof of citizenship plus photo identification, although this is not often asked for. http://www.gonorthwest.com/visitor/plann... no canada is a part of the united states Yes! They put a temporary lift on requiring a passport only if you are flying across borders. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbp... |
