We are going to Ocean City Maryland for 6 days. My daughter, 11 years old, wants to invite a friend?

Travel Info
We cannot afford to pay for the friend's food and amusements, such as water park, amusement park, etc. How much money should we suggest she bring, keeping in mind that we are NOT cooking while on vacation, and all meals will be eaten out. The hotel is paid for and she does not have to kick in on that.

Travel Tips
Well, I've only been to Ocean City once. Assuming you don't mind her bringing along a friend (which is what I gathered from the way you asked the question), I would suggest figuring out how much a park admission is going to cost first.
You'll have to figure that out ahead of time, since I don't know how much they run. It could end up being another 100-200 dollars, easily.

As for meals, take into consideration things such as "Does your hotel have a continental breakfast?" Are you going to be going to fast food restaurants or sit down ones that might be a little more expensive, or a little of both? (like Subway for lunch but nicer for dinner) If you're going to be there 6 days, I personally would suggest that she bring, just for food, about $25 a day (assuming breakfast is included with the hotel).

If she wants extra spending money, that's her thing. But I would make sure she brings at least 150 dollars for meals for 6 days, and that figure is not including the cost of park admissions. Food can be expensive or cheap depending on where exactly you are, and if she wants extra things like ice cream or cotton candy (Lord forbid, right? ^_^)

About the additional details- 6 days in Ocean City isn't exactly cheap, so I don't think inflating the number is a bad thing (I personally think even I gave a conservative total). It's better she have enough money than too little. 200 is very reasonable, I'd even go for 250. Of course, if her parents object, then what can you do? You'll just have to tell your daughter that she can't come with. Unless her family is very frugal, we all know that kids that age love buying things, so chances are that even if she did bring enough money and some more, she might be tempted to spend it even if she doesn't need to. Perhaps you should tell her parents how much, at minimum, you think she'll need (200), and they can decide if they want to give her extra.

Figure out what you expect for it to cost for your daughter to go. Allow some spending change. Make a list of expected meal prices and such. Don't scrimp but try to cover all possibilities. Present the list to the other parents to be discussed. Explain that you expect to spend a certain amount on the children for the trip, but also explain that you will give an itemized list when you return and any overage will be refunded. If you actually overestimate by a reasonable, but small amount, you should be fine. Just keep track as you go along and STAY IN YOUR BUDGET.

Note: Don't present this to the parents in a way so they think they are supposed to OK what you are doing or spending. Just tell them this is what you plan to do and their daughter is welcome to do this with you but you are not willing to change what you plan to do and you are not willing to leave their daughter out of any of the plans. Just ask if they can afford to send her at this price (allowing for a refund if it actually costs less - but not an extra fee if it costs more) since you have these plans and would like her to join in your trip.
