Would it be safe for a 17 year old boy to go to Chicago for the day? |
Travel Info I really want to go to Chicago. I only live about 4 hours away by train. I just want to check out Michigan Ave and Wrigley Field. I think my mom might let me go i I pay for the trip myself. Im pretty responsible and street smart. Do you think i would be safe by myself? Do you think it would be a good idea for me to go? Travel Tips Yes. Downtown, Michigan avenue, and wrigleyville are all safe neighborhoods. You can easiy walk from the train station to Michigan Avenue. The elevated train will take you right to wrigley field. You should have no problems if you are responsible and have a good head on your shoulders. Others Don't hang out with Ferris, Sloan, or Cameron and you will be okay. They are troublemakers. I'd go to the Art Institute, John Hancock Tower, Wrigley Field, grab a deep dish pizza, then to to that new park they built. (Millennium Park??) Big cities always have an element of danger. When I was much older, I never went into NY without praying for an angelic escort, and if you believe in prayer, I would recommend that you do likewise. Chicago seems like a friendly town, however and your reasons are honourable. I think your Mom might feel better if you took an equally "responsible and street smart" friend with you. Perhaps you could compromise. -dont look at people mean, or stare too much if they look like trouble. If you ignore the bad people they ignore you. -a debit card would be better then cash. -stay with people and don't go waundering where you don't know. specially down alleys..... be safe. yea i think it will be pretty safe, stay out of trouble, be a good boy |
