Travel Tips
Bad things about Austin:
- Hot summers (not a "dry heat" like in the SW either) - some people just never get used to it.
- Allergies - Austin is consistently in the top 5 for worst cities in terms of allergies... if you don't have them when you get here, you'll likely develop them at some point.
- Job market can be tight. It's growing, but I wouldn't recommend moving here without having a job in line first.
- It's liberal, but it's still in Texas.
- Traffic. Obviously this is going to be an issue with most cities, but there is a high accident rate (badly designed roads, bad drivers, and drunk drivers). You'll need a car as public transportation isn't an option for most people (it is very limited).

Obviously there's a lot of great things about Austin as well... I mean, there's a reason people are moving here in droves. Affordable, beautiful, great music scene, highly educated, liberal, etc.
