Travel Info
My wife, myself and our dog are wanting to travel to S.N.P. in VA. and stay probably 2 nights. We will be traveling from central PA. Any tips or advice, i.e. cheap, dog friendly motels(we don't need anything fancy), points of interest in or near the park, etc.
Travel Tips
Well, every time we go (and it's usually at least once a year) we camp in the park. There are 3 campgrounds open to the public within the park as well as a lodge, however, the lodge is a little pricey. If you camp, your dog can totally stay with you. Just be sure to bear-proof your food supply by either hanging it inn a tree or leaving it in your car.... NEVER your tent!!! As far as points of interest near the park, I don't know, I hear the Luray caverns are nice, but we usually stay within the park. It's 105 miles long and there is plenty to do. If you're into hiking there are a lot of trails and at the beginning signs will tell you the trail route and the difficulty level. There are lots of opportunities to see wildlife too. |
