How can I take my family on a vaction without losing my job? |
Travel Info The company I work for uses the point system I get 8 points in a year. 1 point for every day of work I miss If I get 9 points I'm fired. I have no points and no vacation time. A friend is letting us use his condo on the beach for free 1 week in July. A co-worker told me the company would not like it if I took points to go on vacation and would request I have someone cover my shift for those days and it is hard to find people that will work a 12 hour shift. I want to take 3 points and go on a weekend. My boss lives in the same building as me and will know I haven't been home. Im affraid Iv gotten our hopes up for a vacation even my own and now we can't go. Should I stay or should I go? Travel Tips ctelly22 is right and you should try to move your days off + use any holidays (like 4th of July) to make time for a vacation. You also need to start loking for another job that is not so much like slavery. If possible, find another job and schedule your start date at the new job so you have enough time for a vacation after you quit your current job. Good luck! Others How many days a week do you work. Normally if you do 12 hours you work 3 days but I know that is not always the case. See if you can just go on vacation on your days off. Assuming you work 3 days, schedule them together like mon-wed and thurs-sat, and take the vacation from wed-wed. Or have your family go ahead of you and meet them there when you are off. I say try to work it out and go for it, maybe you should consider finding a new job. What happens if one your kids gets sick, your job gives you no leeway. You can always claim to have a "sick aunt". That would explain why you are not home and also why you must miss work. |
