Day1 takes you the 800 miles or so from Chicago to Ogallala NE Day 2 takes you the 960 miles or so to Winnemuca NV Day 2.5 take you the 350 miles or so to Berkley At this time of year you can do almost all that trip in daylight. If you're going to make a ridiculous claim like the one you just made , make sure that your audience isn't made up of people that have done a lot of long distance driving over the past 38 years. I'm just trying to help - Honestly FYI : on long distance trips East of the Mississippi most people average 50 mph West of the River a little less than 60mph Others I'd figure 36 to 40 hours driving time only, depending on weather & how fast you want to drive. Once you get out of Ill. most drivers are doing about 75. When you get to Nevada some are oing 85 to 90. Good Luck and be careful. I assume you're driving? I've done it with a second driver in a little over 24 hours, doing nothing but stopping for gas, and running just a *bit* over the posted limit. With two drivers, a day and a half is reasonable, and gives you 5 hours of down time to get out and strech occasionally. Driving solo, two days is do-able if you can handle driving 3-4 hours at stretch. been there done that |
