How to get a smart trip card with metro?

What city are you in?

DC has Smartrip cards. If that's where you're going, you can buy them with cash ($10, $5 for the card and $5 for the initial balance) at certain stations. There is a special machine. You can ask the person working at the booth to point out the Smartrip vending machines to you. You can also buy online for $30 and have it mailed to you and then you have to activate it online. The only stations I am sure sells the cards are Shady Grove and Metro Center but there are definately others, I just don't know which ones. Source(s): Former DC resident.
