GREAT LAKES Roadtrip?

Travel Info
I'm taking a trip to the lake michigan area... I actually plan on circling it going through chicago, milwaukee, green bay, u.p. of michigan, and then drive down through Grand Rapids and back home to dallas. What are some good stops along the way.

Travel Tips
The cities you named are all good places to visit... If you have time (and this would add at least 3 days to your trip) you should check out Isle Royal in Lake Superior. It's a beautiful national park, and you can only get there from Copper Harbor in the UP. Other places to check out on your way through Michigan are:

Sault Saint Marie
Mackinac Island/Fort Michilimackinac
Traverse City
South Haven (on lake Michigan)

All of these places would take you along the west coast of Michigan, rather than through Grand Rapids... but the middle of the state is not terribly exciting.

I hope you enjoy your trip! Source(s): Born and raised in Michigan... and have spent time at all of the places listed.
Other Travel Tips
MI is pretty boring..

i know what you mean, but MI doesn't have a lot of tourist spots....
i live there
Chicago- Cubs game, Watertower Place on Michigan Ave. (shopping center), Rose Records, Cheescake Factory restaurant

North of Chicago on I-94 is Six Flags Great America with good roller coasters.

Milwaukee- the Safehouse bar. You need the password otherwise you have to do embarrasing things to get in and everyone inside gets to watch on the closed circuit TVs and laugh at you. Of course, I know the password so contact me if you want it so you can get in easy and laugh at others like a regular.

As far as Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo to the south (where I live), we got nothin'. If you're headed south you'll want to avoid US 131 south of K'zoo. From G.R., either take I69 toward Lansing and then south into Indiana or US 131 south to K'zoo but then west on I94 back toward Illinois and then south from there.
Between Milwaukee and Green Bay, Sheboygan is a nice place to stop. There is a pier that takes you out to a lighthouse with a great view the the lake. Check it out
