Which states are considered the sunbelt states?

I am planning to move from LA. I like the desert and great plains. I want to avoid mountain regions. I don't ski or like snow sports. I get motion sickness from the long and winding roads. Which states have the strongest sun rays and most deserts? Help appreciated.

Florida, Texas, Arizona, and California, and extending as far north as Virginia.
