Why is Hollister CO 'Beachy'?

Travel Info
Hollister is actually a place in California about 50 miles (as my dad says) from the beach. He's been there and said it was cactus land. We even Looked it up on the map!

So, why is Hollister CO all 'beachy' and stuff? It makes no sense.

(Note: I have nothing against people who shop there, I was just wondering. Also, I used to live in California.)

Travel Tips
Most people who shop there never have, nor ever will make it to the city in CA. It's just marketing, pleasant name, but their merchandise isn't very different from Abercrombie and Fitch or American Eagle. Maybe it's just beachy because it's summer.
