19 yrs old, No career, where should I move?? |
Travel Info I need low cost of living, beach (within 50 mi.), and very low crime! Any Suggestions??? Travel Tips The Lewis & Clark Valley in Idaho/Washington. There is a beach, two rivers, campgrounds, inexpensive housing, and it's small. It is one valley in both states--connected by a small drawbridge. It's small, but has everything you need: A mall, all the fast-food places, a Costco, a Walmart, an Albertsons supermarket (one in Idaho and one in Washington), good restaurants, several banks, two post offices, boating, and easy access to other parts of both Idaho and Washington--and easy access to Oregon. Also Globe/Miami, Arizona. These two towns are also considered one area--up in the mountains. They do not get as hot in the summer as places such as Tucson and Phoenix. If you move into "Wheatfields" (six miles out of town), you are only 20 miles from a huge lake--and plenty of summer activity. It is like the country in Wheatfields--and you will see deer, rabbits, cows, horses, cattle, etc. In Globe and Miami there is also Fry's (Kroeger), Safeway, and Walmart--as well as Radio Shack, fast foods, good restaurants, small shops, etc. I had extended stays in each of these areas, and really enjoyed them. The crime rate was super low in both--you have no fear of even walking around either place. Also, there are some jobs in both places--and, as I said, easy access to larger cities--oh, both have community colleges--and both are not super far from 4-year colleges. Others Your 19 years old. Get some money saved and then travel the world. www.gapyear.com THEN decide. You may not even want to live in the states If you are looking for a career move to Austin, TX. It's within 150 miles from the coast of Texas, I know you said 50 but this place is great. I used to live in San Antonio, and it sucked. Move to Austin. go to college Low cost of living, low crime, 19 y/o and beach within 50 miles. Your Navy recruiter wants to talk to you. Go to college son. you will regret it later. if possible live at home and save money, otherwise share a place with roommates Try taking a TEFL course then you can travel the world teaching English as a foreign language. My son left school at 15 after being educated in Spain, so had very little English language tuition. However at aged 20 after trying various jobs unsuccessfully, including a stint in the British Army, he went off and did the one month TEFL training course and has never looked back. He is currently living and working on Java, Indonesia and loves it |
